Welcome to Vegan Houston

Believe it or not, Houston has an abundance of great vegan food. You just have to know where to look. Thanks to the cultural diversity of the metro area, many restaurants accommodate our ethics. It may not always be marketed as such, but plenty of vegan food is out there. This site was created to shine a light on the accessibility of veganism in Houston through restaurant listings as well as your comments & recommendations. Try vegan, go vegan, stay vegan!

Dude, awesome!

Please include the Mission burrito on West Alabama. I love that place. I just moved the Medical Center and my in-laws live around Hobby, so I can give you the names of some places to try in those areas once I find out for myself if you're interested. :o)

Could you please tell me where good vegan indian food is which is *not* madras? cause I went there and bombay sweets had horrible experiences.

I just want some decent samosas, dammit.

I didn't actually move the Medical Center, but I did move TO the Medical Center...

Udipi Vegetarian Indian Cuisine - in Sugar Land, one on Hilcroft and another coming in Katy. My husband and I go there at least 2x per month (which is a lot for us). It is wonderful and reasonable.
Thanks for the blog - got the link from the Society of PEACE.

Chipotle and Freebirds are vegan? You might as well throw in Subway if you're going to set the bar that low. You should create 3 separate lists: 1 list for true vegan/vegetarian restaurants, 1 list for Indian restaurants, and 1 list for your Chipotle/Freebirds/Subway make-your-own sandwich shops.
